The French Embassy Must Move At All Cost

The Chairman of the committee to see to the relocation of the Presidents office from the Christiansburg Castle in Osu, to the Flagstaff House at Kanda, Commodore Steve Obimpeh, has said the French Embassy must relocate at all cost. The Ex-Navy Chief stated that the commission has done an extensive work on the security and other necessities to ensure the safety and comfort of the President and his team. He revealed that the decision to move the seat of government to the Flagstaff House was purely that of the President. This action comes after the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) then in opposition, criticized the building of the edifice, calling it a displaced priority. The NDC in the last four years of the administration of the late President Mills did not use the Presidential Palace, citing structural defects and security concerns. Commodore Obimpeh further stated that, the French Embassy in Ghana which is directly opposite an Accra based television station, Tv3 and shares a wall with the Flag Staff House on the left wing must go at all cost, because of its proximity to the office of the first gentleman of the land. Speaking on Radio Gold from the relocation ceremony at the Flagstaff House in Kanda, he said, security experts have made recommendations with regards to TV3 and promised to speak to the issue at the appropriate time.
