Ho township sees major improvement in road infrastructure

The Ho township has seen major facelift in the road sector in the last six months resulting in improved vehicular movement, commercial activities and police patrols at night. Access roads connecting the central market and suburbs have opened up the town and making night life appealing. Mr Fred Quist, Ho Municipal Quantity Surveyor at the Department of Urban Roads told the GNA that roads linking OLA Senior School, Ho Fiave and the 66 Artillery Regiment would soon be tarred to decongest traffic in the regional capital, especially on market days. He said access roads linking Chances Hotel, Goshen City, Kabore and SSNIT Flats were to enhance the status of those emerging communities to raise their economic value in terms of property rates to the Municipal Assembly. Some residents of Ho Fiave-Zongo were full of praise for the Department of Urban Roads and government for tarring roads in the area, which was hitherto isolated from the central business district. The improvement in the road sector and the new street lighting system have given rise to the emergence of shops and joints where brisk business activities are carried out deep into the night. Mr Joy Afagbedzi, Volta Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service said the access roads had enhanced security in the Municipality.
