The British High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr. Peter Jones has expressed the willingness of top UK Universities to come and be part of an Exhibition and Recruitment Seminar that is scheduled for this year. This, the High Commissioner observed, is as a result of the record number of Ghanaian students in UK Universities who continue to excel in their chosen fields of study. The High Commissioner made these remarks when he conferred with the Minister of Information and Media Relations, Mahama Ayariga in Accra. The visit was also to formally congratulate the Minister upon his assumption into office. Mr Jones was proud of the tremendous achievements of Ghanaian students adding that such growing number of Ghanaian students in the UK would greatly inure to the benefits of the human resources of the country. Welcoming the envoy, the Information Minister said government would continue to invest in the educational sector and appealed to UK universities to take advantage of the peaceful environment to establish their campuses in the country. This, according to Hon. Ayariga would cut the huge financial budget students have to incur following their admissions. On the media, Hon. Ayariga stated that his Ministry would be looking forward to collaborating with investment partners in areas of training and capacity building for media professionals as part of efforts to meet the changing trend in the profession while championing and safeguarding the country�s enviable democratic credentials. As a Ministry that is tasked with providing people with credible information regarding national policies and programmes, the Information Minister acknowledged the role of the media and added that government would continue to provide the needed assistance that may become necessary.
