Turkey Gold Saga: No GSD Officials Have Been Arrested

The Geological Survey Department (GSD) has debunked news reports that the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) has picked up two officials of the GSD for questioning in connection with the controversial export of $80 million gold from Ghana to Iran which was seized in Turkey. The two, Dr. Thomas Adu Deputy Director, GSD and Justice Adom, Senior Technical Officer of the Department were said to have been picked up on Wednesday following the seizure of an aircraft in Istanbul, Turkey, allegedly carrying 1.5 tonnes of gold originating from Ghana and destined for the Islamic Republic of Iran. Mr. John Adjei Duodu, Director of GSD told Tweneboa Kodua (TK) in an interview on Peace FMs morning show that it is not true; no official has been arrested. In every government work, you can be called to assist the BNI with investigations at anytime. We work hand in hand with the BNI and so if you are invited to answer some few questions, it does not mean they have arrested you
