President Mahama Urges Ministers To Live Above Reproach

The third batch of seventeen Ministers approved by Parliament were yesterday sworn in by President John Mahama at Flagstaff House in Accra. The President urged them to go about their responsibilities with transparency and also allow accountability be their hallmark. He noted that Ghanaians will hold them responsible for lapses in their various jurisdiction and they must rise up to the occasion. Also at the Flagstaff House to pay a courtesy call on the President was leadership of the Symposium of Episcopal Conference of Africa and Madagascar, SECAM. The organization has been headquartered in Accra for forty years now. The President of SECAM and Archbishop of Dar-Es-Salaam in Tanzania, His eminence Polycarp Cardinal Pengo, congratulated the President and stated that the organization had followed the elections and is happy that Ghana has again made Africa proud. He asked President Mahama to add his voice to a request by SECAM to the Africa Union to be granted an observer status at their summits. President John Mahama acknowledged the importance of the Catholic Church in nation building particularly in the educational and health sectors. He also commended the Catholic Bishops Conference which stood as the voice of the voiceless even in difficult times. President Mahama said government will continue to partner the church. The Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar, SECAM, was founded in 1969 in Kampala, Uganda and its mission among others is to promote, education, peace and good governance on the African continent.
