Arrested EC Official Is Not A National Service Personnel

The National Service Secretariat has denied reports that one of the three persons arrested in Savelugu with the pink sheets over the weekend is service person. Reports cited Salamatu Osmanu, one of the three arrested as a Service Personnel with the Electoral Commission. However, a statement signed by the Acting Head of the National Service Scheme, Mr. Felix Gyamfi said Mrs. Osmanu is not a service personnel. �From our records, she is therefore NOT a Service Person and thus the claim that she is one by the media is untrue." Below is the full statement REJOINDER: DISCLAIMER REPORT ON SALAMATU OSMANU � ONE OF THE ELECTORAL COMMISSION OFFICIALS ARRESTED AT SAVELUGU/NANTON MUNICIPALITY The Ghana National Service Scheme�s attention has been drawn to various media publication to the effect that one Salamatu Osmanu, a National Service person was arrested by the police in Savelugu/Nanton District in the Northern Region in connection with tampering with electoral materials of the Electoral Commission. Management of the Ghana National Service Scheme wishes to state categorically that the said Salamatu Osmanu is NOT a National Service person as reported. Miss Osmanu Salamatu only did her mandatory National Service with the Electoral Commission in the Savelugu/Nanton Municipality during the 2011/2012 Service Year, which officially ended on 31st August 2012. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Integrated Development Studies from the University for Development Studies. Our records also show that she duly signed and picked up her National Service Certificate with Serial Number NSSDW11511119025 on 11th January, 2013. From our records, she is therefore NOT a Service Person and thus the claim that she is one by the media is untrue.
