EC Pink Sheet Scandal: NPP To Hit The Streets If...

The New Patriotic Party(NPP) has indicated that they will take to the streets if the Attorney General does not prosecute the culprits involved in the signing of the pink sheets. A few days ago, three officials of the Savelugu District Electoral Commission were arrested for conniving and allegedly bribing Presiding officers in the district to sign unsigned Pink Sheets in the December 2012 Elections, two months after the Polls. NPPs Northern regional secretary, Clifford Braimah told Shamima Muslim in an interview on Citi FM that, even though it is alleged that there is no prescribed or defined punishment for culprits involved in such acts, the Attorney General should be able to prosecute them since they were trying to temper with evidence "But if nothing is done about it, the only option will be to take a political decision and the only political decision that can compel them is to go on the streets. We will be following the case closely; we have lawyers and so if we are called to testify we would gladly do it," he said. He however added that, the party is confident the police will conduct proper investigations for the Attorney General to continue with prosecution. We think that they will do a good job and that is why we have given them the original pink sheets, and so we will just believe strongly that they will do what is right, send the case to the Attorney General's department for them to also be quick enough to prosecute them, he added.
