Govt Should Probe Into Competence of ECG,VRA & GRIDCo Personnel

A political analyst has asked government to probe into the competence of personnel at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) and the Volta River Authority (VRA). According to him, the problem facing the country now in terms of power supply, no matter how big or small it is, will still persist if there are no competent people to handle it. The country for a while now, has been facing erratic power outages; a situation which has become an albatross on the neck of the country. Speaking to Peace FM on Midday news Wednesday, Professor Gilbert Bluewah said the problem might be due to unprofessional hands at work, adding that government should probe into the various companies involved to find those people and if possible train them to be able to solve such problems with professional hands. "The challenges facing the country must be looked at in another angle; in terms of personnel, skills and qualification. We must look at the professional competent and commitment of the personnel. We should have competent hands who can give us the best of service. We are in a mess; total mess and I dont think as a nation we should only trust in God for a miracle. "We should take a hard look at the professional competence of the personnel and see what we can do to help them. You should set up a probe...too often the power outages are not caused by insufficient power allocation to ECG,because whenever sufficient power is even given to them, they still fail us. We should take a hard look at the professional competence of the personnel, he intimated.
