Minority Leader: NPP Will Not Boycott Parliament

Hon. Osei Kyei Mensa Bonsu, the Minority leader in parliament who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame constituency in the Ashanti Region says the minority will be in parliament on Thursday during the Presidents State of the Nations address. President John Dramani Mahama will give his State of the Nation Address before Parliament on Thursday, February 21. The Minority in Parliament have taken a stand not to participate in any activity which will endorse the legitimacy of President Mahama. They have already boycotted vetting of ministerial nominees, and the inaugural service of President Mahama. Speaking in an interview on Peace FM's 6pm news bulletin, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensa-Bonsu, said: we will be attending to our normal duties tomorrow. We will not boycott parliament...the chambers(parliament) is ours and we will be in the chambers to attend to parliamentary business, he told Peace FM. Meanwhile, sources from the minority say they will be attending to parliamentary business in the morning; but will withdraw from the house before President Mahama enters to give his State of the Nation address. Their decision is said to be in line with that of the party following a crunch meeting held with the executives on Wednesday.
