Prez Gave An Uninspiring State of the Nation's Address...It Was More of A Budget Statement

A policy analyst of Peoples National Convention(PNC), Atik Mohammed, has described the Presidents state of the nations address as uninspiring and not encouraging. He is of the opinion that, the nation is already in a mess; explaining that the President should have come out to admit that the nation is facing some crisis with our erratic water and electricity supply which form the basic amenities of every country. Addressing his position on the state of the nations address by the President on Okay FMs Ghana Decides programme, Atik Mohammed alluded to the fact that the Presidents address was more like reading the budget statement. According to the PNC policy analyst, he expected the President to tell Ghanaians the current condition of the economy, infrastructure, education, as well as the state of the energy crisis in the country; adding that the President rather spent a lot of time, telling Ghanaians what he would be doing. Analytically, the President should have dealt with the issue sector by sector. He quickly added that the President got it wrong when he said he was now going to come up with programs which will alleviate poverty in households by providing lantern and setting up funds for them. All along, didnt the President know that there are people of this naturewhat has become of the LEAP program he inherited, Atik queried. Atik Mohammed emphatically stated that; Ghanaians were facing crises as the country could not boast of the basic essentials of life, adding that Ghana is retrogressing since there is no regular supply of electricity for the ordinary Ghanaian. The President didnt assure Ghanaians that in the shortest possible time, he will provide means to solve the problems, he said. Atik Mohammed said that life has become unbearable for Ghanaians and people could not access water and electricity; therefore advised the President to tell the Ghanaians the true state of the nation and come up with possible solutions to address those problems.
