Walking Out On Prez Mahama Was UNGHANAIAN Collins Dauda

Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Hon. Alhaji Collins Dauda has chided the Minority Caucus in Parliament for walking out on President John Dramani Mahama last Thursday when the latter was about to read his maiden State of the Nation Address; describing their act as unGhanaian. The Minister revealed on Okay fms Ade Akye Abia that the Minority Caucus had earlier indicated that they will stay for the address but to the surprise of the Majority, their colleagues on the other side staged a boycott of proceedings. To him, the action by the NPP MPs is alien to Ghanaian customs and a show of gross disrespect. if we install a chief in a family and you dont support him, after he is install as a chief, you should attend his durbar or dont even attend it if you dont like him; but in this country, what is not good is to walk out on a person of authorityIt is unGhanaian and not done anywhere, he stressed. Hon. Collins Dauda further pointed out that it is widely accepted that the President is the appointing authority in the country, and thus wonders if the Minority Caucus who are MPs representing their constituents, can call on Metropolitan, Municipal and Districts Chief Executives to address problems in their locality, since they do not regard the one who appointed the MMDCES. If you dont respect the President who appointed me, will it be right to respect me as his minister; and if I accept the respect you have for me as his minister then I have shown dishonesty to the President, Hon. Collins Dauda stated. He urged the NPP to graciously accept defeat and be circumspect in their utterances since their abusive remarks can result in the wrath of God falling on them, adding that that it is not surprising for President Mahama who used three months to campaign won the 2012 elections as against Nana Akufo Addo who campaigned for two years simply because God has not chosen him (Nana Akufo Addo) to be Ghanas President. they (NPP) should go back to the drawing board and reflect over what went wrong in their party and prepare adequately for the next electionsbecause with the attitude being exhibited by the minority caucus, it will be difficult for any minister or chief executive to extend development to their constituency since they are continually showing disrespect to the president, he advised.
