Prez Mahama Is Visionless As Economy Is Suffering From "Kwashiorkor"

The Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party(NPP),Nana Akomea, has described Ghana's economy as one that reflects "kwashiorkor" and not a resilient one as painted by President Mahama when he addressed the nation last Thursday. "The state of Ghana today, is one of 'kwashiorkor'", Nana Akomea underscored. In Nana Akomea's view, the maiden address which was delivered by President Mahama was absolutely not different from the speeches which the late former President Mills, delivered when he was alive. "It is just a repetition of sectorial plans made by the ministries, put together and read by the president. Take the one which was delivered in 2009, 2010...there is nothing new," he said. Speaking on Joy FM's "Newsfile" programme, the former MP for Okaikwei South hinted that during President Kufour's era, President Mahama who was then an MP, scorned at the former's address to the nation and rather prescribed the various areas he should have touched on. However, President Mahama failed to recognize all he had said in the past and delivered a "visionless" address, according to Nana Akomea. "When he was a member of the opposition, he said that the State of the Nation Address 'should tell us where we are today, the basic critical issues facing us today...how the president proposes to solve the issue and how he is going to do it'," Nana Akomea revealed. However, Nana Akomea observed that looking at the speech President Mahama touched on, it didn't satisfy any of the criteria he had proposed in the past. "A State of the Nation Address is supposed to deal with the critical issues facing the people. It is supposed to show us a clear way out and it is supposed to get the buy in to inspire all of us that there is a clear way all of us can follow. There was nothing like that unfortunately." Nana Akomea ended by stating that President Mahama was simply following the old pattern of ministries putting together their plans for a president to read as a national address. "He just put in sectorial plans and read it to us. There was nothing new, no vision and inspiration in it," he added.
