Several months after the 2012 general elections, persons who worked for the Electoral Commission, (EC) as Presiding Officers, Biometric Verification Officers, and Name Reference Officers among others are yet to be paid.
According to them, numerous calls to the offices of the EC to demand their monies have proved futile.
Some of the volunteers who spoke to Citi News said the situation is disturbing.
�We have not been paid and no one has called us to tell us anything and it�s very disturbing. We are expecting the returning officers or district officer to call us and tell us something,� one female volunteer stated.
Another male volunteer also stated, �Some of us call the returning officers but any time we call they give us excuses and now the latest excuse is that the district office is being taken to court.�
Meanwhile, the EC says the volunteers will be paid as soon as funds are ready.
