A member of the New Patriotic Party�s communication team has said that, Mr. Kwame Pianim has proven to be a disloyal founding member of the party by his earlier resignation and habitual reproach of the party in the public domain. �If anyone thinks and belief Mr. Kwame Pianim has love and good intensions for the party, then the person must be mistaking�If it is true that he is really a founding member and someone who wanted to be a flagbearer at a point, then, he should play a better role by seeking the wellbeing and unity of the party,� he said. Kwame Pianim, told the Africawatch that the New Patriotic Party needs the courage to confront defeat because �it is good for democracy and the nation�. The outspoken politician, business economist and investment consultant in an exclusive interview with Africawatch blamed the NPP national executives for exhibiting �intellectual and mental laziness�. In a reaction to Mr. Pianim�s comments, Kwamena Duncan reiterated that, the onetime flagbearer hopeful deserted the party in the year 2000 when the party was in a great struggle against the incumbent who had all the state machinery backing it into elections. Nonetheless, President John Agyekum Kufour made Mr. Kwame Pianim the chairman of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) because of his vast experience and intellect. Mr. Pianim however, according Kwamena Duncan, sought to create confusion in the NPP at a time when the party was yet again faced with the huddle of winning the 2008 Parliamentary and Presidential elections by challenging the authority of the Ex-President in the pursuit of making the PURC autonomous. �President Kufour made us understand that, indeed, the increases which the PURC proposed; he as President never knew of them,� he argued. The NPP communicator quickly mentioned that Mr. Kwame Pianim may have had genuine reasons for all his actions but his modus operandi may not have been appropriate.
