NDC Communicator: NPP Should Cease Fire On Kwame Pianim

A National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communicator, Fred Agbenyo has called on the members of the oppostion New Patriotic Party (NPP) to cease fire on Mr. Kwame Mpianim, an economist and staunch NPP guru. Fred Agbenyo says the NPP should bury the hatchet on the seemingly disparaging remarks by Mr. Pianim on the partys position in boycotting events involving the President of the fourth Republic. According to him, the attacks do not augur well for the future of the opposition party and as a result implored the members to be tolerant of each others views. Speaking in relation to the statement by Mr. Pianim, Mr. Agbenyo explained on Peace FMs Kokrokoo programme Wednesday morning, that the NPP is only showing signs of frustrations and so, admonished them not to use the media to resolve their difficulties. Alluding to similar confrontations of the NPP in the case of a leading member of the party, Charles Wereko Brobbey, commenting on the decision by the leadership of the party; he said the NPP stalwarts are gradually noted for venting their spleen on any person who dissents to their position. He bemoaned the attitude of the NPP youth members who have sought to rebut Mr. Pianims comments saying they should rather divert their interest in analyzing the prospects of the party. Mr. Pianim, an outspoken politician, business economist and investment consultant in an exclusive interview with Africawatch chided the NPP national executives for displaying intellectual and mental laziness He held a view that the party is heading in the wrong direction, adding that; the boycott [of the Presidents inauguration] somehow portrayed the NPP executives as confused people. He also pointed out, in an interview with Joy FM, that the NPPs boycott which the leadership says is in furtherance of the partys position regarding the 2012 Presidential elections, for which they are challenging the results at the Supreme Court in hope to overturn the legitimacy of President Mahama, poses danger to the future of the party. According to him, the NPP leadership is not thinking logically and is going down a dangerous slope as a result of their decision and therefore called for an emergency national congress of the party to decide on its boycott of certain key national events and other activities involving the President. Adding his voice to the views expressed, Fred Agbenyo advised the leadership to hold talks with the dissenters within the party. I would have wished that we look at the substance of the issues raised by the person. We agree or disagree with the person based on the issues. But often times we place the issues aside and mete out personal attack on the person, he urged.
