Aviation Fuel Now Available...Can Last For 8weeks Says NPA

The National Petroleum Authority has in an official release stated that "Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK)" is now available in quantities that can last more than eight weeks. Public Relations Officer of NPA, Yaro Kasambata, in a statement he signed on Thursday stated that all airlines (both domestic and international) can now resume normal flight schedules which were interrupted by low stocks of aviation fuel. ATK supplies of 17 million litres and 19 million litre have since been delivered and being supplied to the airports. With our daily consumption of 580, 000 litres, these consignments will ensure regular supply and enough buffer to ensure that similar supply shortfalls are not experienced. Further arrangements have been put in place to ensure that there is frequent and adequate supply of ATK into the country. "The LPG supply was interrupted due to some pipeline works which commenced last Week in Tema and has since been completed. Standard safety tests on the pipelines begun on Thursday to enable full supply of LPG to resume on Friday 1st March, 2013. Whilst the pipeline works were on-going, all LPG Marketing Companies were directed to load their supplies in Takoradi. Tema has 1700 metric tons of LPG in store already which will be supplied from Friday March 1, 2013 and another 10,000 metric tons ready to be discharged from the vessel. This supply will greatly augment the supply from Takoradi and improve the general supply of LPG in the country by Saturday. These interruptions in the supply of ATK and LPG have inconvenienced many and the Authority apologizes for the inconvenience this situation has created for the general public and would do everything possible to prevent a repeat of such situations, the statement said.
