Residents of Pig Farm-Kotobaabi, a suburb of Accra, have been facing a serious water problems for the past six years. The situation had also exposed the people to health risks since they have to travel far away to Dzorwulu to fetch water. Mr Prince Quarshie Tamakloe, Assemblyman for Pig Farm-Kotobaabi Electoral Area, made this known to the Ghana News Agency at the weekend after a cleanup exercise aimed at creating awareness among the people to change the face of the environment. He said access to water was a major problem in the area which had necessitated the sale of water at GHp70 per bucket and GH�200 for those who can afford to buy from the tankers. Mr Tamakloe said many attempts to get the Ghana Water Company to repair whatever damage caused during the construction of a road so as to enable water to flow have failed. The Assemblyman also expressed concern about constant fear of robbery attacks by a group of suspected armed robbers responsible for a number of robberies, such as engaging in the snatching of cars and bags at the Ebony area. Mr Tamakloe reminded the people that a clean and healthy environment is the surest guarantee of good health and urged them to keep their surroundings clean at all times. He advised them to refrain from indiscriminate throwing of refuse into gutters and drains which are likely to block water ways. He expressed gratitude to Pig Farm Keep Fit Club, Arise Fitness Club and Zoomlion for participating in the massive cleanup exercise.
