Cardinals Elect New Pope On Fifth Ballot But No Name Yet

Catholics all over the world and in St. Peters Square are filled with joy as they watch in ecstasy the emergence of white smoke from the chimney on the roof of the Sistine Chapel; signalling the election of a new pope. The Pope is said to have been elected on the conclave's fifth ballot, on the second day of voting. However, his identity is not yet known. He is currently inside the Sistine Chapel changing into papal vestments and praying with the cardinals who just elected him. The identity of the Pope will be revealed once he appears on the balcony of the Vatican.
