The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGHSP) Scheme of the Japanese Embassy has granted a contract worth GH�234,509.75 to Africa 2000 Network (A2N) Ghana to improve the Pagzaa Community Centre. The GGHSP intends to improve basic human needs at the grassroot level to improve infrastructure and operational activities of the Pagzaa community centre in the Northern region. The money will cover renovations at the boiling area, working halls, mill house, and provision of water tank and electrification of the entire community centre. The Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Japan, Shigeru Hamano, said GGHSP targets areas that aim to improve projects that are highly beneficial at the grassroots. He added that project proposals submitted to the Embassy every year are examined and evaluated on a project-by project basis to attract GGHSP funding. �This project aims at revitalising economic activities in the Pagzaa community by providing some equipment and rehabilitating the community centre where inhabitants engage in income generated activities such as weaving, sewing, shea butter making,� Hamano said. The Executive Director of Africa 2000 Network (A2N) Ghana, Adisa Lansah Yakubu, expressed gratitude to the Embassy for the assistance. She said the centre, which serves as a training ground, will benefit greatly after renovation works are completed. �Women in the Pagzaa area shall have a decent place of work for their economic activities that shall increase their income. Increase in income for the women shall help them to contribute meaningful to their families and communities thus helping to boost their self confidence in the society,� Madam Yakubu. She added that A2N will support the project to attain the set targets.
