Sir John Dares Ghana Police

Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as Sir John, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dared the Ghana Police Service to come out and tell him the law he has infringed on by moving Dr. Bawumias mangled vehicle from the accident scene without notifying them. According to him, he is waiting for the police to inform him of the law he has breached or the crime he has committed by towing Dr. Bawumias car out of the accident scene for a private forensic investigations. It was a very serious accident and I think people must get real and be serious about it, he said. The Head of the Motor Transport and Traffic Unit (MTTU) in the Northern Region, Supt. George Blewushi has reprimanded the NPP scribe for defying normal legal procedure. What I know is that if there is an accident at a place, the vehicle should be sent to the nearest police station. If the car does not get to the police station, how would they get an accident report to get claims? he said. He indicated that; if somebody is saying he doesnt trust the Police then I dont know the educational level of that person. Sir John, who has earlier stated his distrust for the police could not confirm to Citi FM, an Accra based radio if he would be willing to respond to an invitation to provide evidence that the President was behind the accident. First let us see whether or not the police would investigate this matter, he added. There are quite a number of incidents in this country that the police have failed to investigate in spite the fact that people have formally launched a complaint...you remember Yaw Boateng Gyans case, two people went to the police, formally launched a complaint and they were never invited by the NDC policemen in this country, he recalled. In his view, it is because of some of these issues that he does not trust the police.
