NPP Behind Labour Unrests NDC Youth Group Claims

A youth group loyal to the governing National Democratic Congress has claimed that ongoing strike by teachers is a key response to opposition New Patriotic Party machinations aimed at making the country ungovernable. The Youth With Conviction of Principles (YWCP), says recent agitations in the labour sector could have been given a boost by comments allegedly attributed to a leading member of the NPP, Mr. Ken Ofori- Atta, who recently called for civil unrest while addressing a gathering at the William Ofori- Atta Memorial Lecture at the British Council in Accra. The group in a release said subsequent to Mr. Ofori-Attas call for action, the NPP and its allies, notable among them, AFAG, Ordinary Ghanaians, Let My Vote Count, Young Patriots among others have planned series of demonstrations to hit the country and, if care is not taken, it will escalate to a full blown civil unrest. The current conduct of our teachers -when they have received up to 300% increment in salary at some times- to ambush Ghanaians by the civil strike at this crucial time of the academic year when our brothers and sisters are undertaking their final exams to shape their future, is without doubt a key response to NPP machinations and Ken Ofori- Attass call for civil unrest, when he accused civil society groups of cowardice and hypocrisy in a recent William Ofori- Atta memorial lecture at Accra. It is in the light of the above looming danger that we make a humble appeal to the security services to be vigilant and bold to defend and protect our mother land against all acts of aggression as enshrined in Article 200 of our constitution. We further call on all peace loving Ghanaians to desist from any act that will not promote the peace and unity we all enjoy in our country Ghana.
