STATEMENT: I Have Not Stepped Down - GJA Reg Exec Aspirant

My attention has been drawn onto a rumour circulating in the eastern region that I [Maxwell Kudekor] have stepped down as an aspiring regional secretary in the Tuesday 26th March, 2013 regional elections. I want to unequivocally state that, I have not declared or intended to step down in the contest for any reason. I wish to use this platform to assure all GJA members who believe in the struggle for vibrancy and fairness in the association to treat the rumour as falsehood and an attempt by some unprogressive practitioners to distract my attention. I want to assure my sympathizers and supporters that all I envision to do, when given the mandate as a secretary, still stand and together, we shall bring to fruition the change we all yearn for. I am still committed to embarking on a membership drive to register majority of the qualified practitioners in the Eastern Region and organize training programs for members. I shall open GJA chapters at Nkawkaw, Oda and Somanya to help regulate the activities of journalists in the named areas. I shall advocate and institute an annual get-together and awards scheme for members in the Eastern Region to encourage hard working members and promote professionalism. I shall also lobby for a press center in the Eastern Region. The center will comprise offices, conference room, internet caf, a library, a bar and restaurant. Above all, I shall be transparent in all dealings of the association and ensure the swift dissemination of information to all members. I encourage all members with voting right to go out in their numbers and vote for a young but experienced and innovative person as a regional secretary. Finally, I want to reiterate that I am still in the contest and a vote for Maxwell Kudekor as Eastern Regional secretary of GJA is a vote for progress and forward movement of GJA in the Eastern Region. Signed Mr. Maxwell Kudekor Aspiring Eastern Regional GJA Secretary
