President Mahama Commended For Resolving Teachers Strike

Reverend Stephen Okyere Inkoom, President of Swedru Baptist Association, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for his swift intervention to resolve the impasse between striking teachers and Fair Wage and Salaries Commission. Rev Inkoom made this known when he addressed Members of the Association at a four Days Easter Convention at Agona Kwanyako. The members are from Agona Swedru, Gomoa, Awutu and Breman Asikuma. He commended the teachers and others for accepting the appeal by the President to call-off the strike. He expressed the hope that the teachers would work hard to assist the students especially those writing their final year exams. Rev Inkoom appealed to politicians to do well to improve the livelihood of Ghanaians, adding that majority of the people are facing poverty, hunger and disease. He urged Christians to use the death and resurrection of Christ to change their life style to promote peace and stability. At Agona Swedru, Rev Charles Arkoh-Nunoo, former Central Regional Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church said the death of Christ should bring unity to the people. He asked political leaders to seek the face of God, adding that without that it would be difficult to get divine direction to transform the economy. At the Christ Apostle Church (CAC), Reverend Owusu Manu, Public Relations Officer of Agona Swedru said Jesus Christ died to save mankind and called on Christians to live lives worthy of emulation. Elder Sam Anthony, Agona Swedru Deacon of CAC said the youth of the church have embarked on evangelism drive to win more souls for Christ. Reverend Isaac Ackon, Swedru District Pastor of Christ Ambassadors Church, advised the youth to desist from immoral acts during the Easter celebration, adding that going to beach and attending other entertainments could lead them to calamity.
