Security Tightened In Kwahu After Group Demonstration

Police presence in Kwahu-Atibie has been beefed following pressure group, Let My Vote Count Alliance's disregard of a directive to put a hold on its demonstration. According to the Police, the reinforcement was necessary to maintain peace and order. The pressure group has on numerous occasions embarked on various marches to voice their objection to the results of the 2012 general elections which saw H.E. John Mahama elected the President of the Republic. According to the group, the election was not conducted in a free and fair manner. The group's efforts, according to them, have on several occasions however been hampered by activities of the security services. In an interview with Citi News, the spokesperson for the group, David Asante noted that the Police were not being cooperative and were unnecessarily delaying them. "They (Police) informed us at 2pm on Sunday that we could not hold the event because the letter wet sent to the regional police had not been signed. Can you believe that? Well, we did our part by notifying the police therefore we went on with the event.� �The police only cautioned us not to allow the event to extend into the late hours of the day� he stated.
