Better Stop Your Phds Noise And Know We Deserve Our Ex-gratia- Kofi Jumah

The former Member of Parliament for the Asokwa Constituency, Mr. Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has rubbed salt into the wounds of the teachers on strike, warning them to stop making noise with their certificates since it doesnt come close to the job description of parliamentarians. We dont build a nation based on Phds. The laws of the land make it clear that we need a president but his nomination isnt based on Phd. We need a president but what qualification or certificate is needed? he asked. Mr. Jumah was questioning the basis of incessant criticisms from the unions and the public against the MPs and wondered if the Teachers and Doctors could compare themselves to MPs. Various labour Unions, as well as the public, have expressed extreme anger at the government for paying Ghc47m to all the 230 MPs of the fifth parliament at a time that University Teachers, Doctors, Pharmacists and Judicial Service staff were up in arms demanding better conditions of service and salary arrears. But the former Mayor of Kumasi argued that that he respects the fact that teachers and doctors were giving their best to serve Ghana by making it a better place; they should also bear in mind that Parliament, is important than any institution in Ghana. The former MP disclosed on Okay FM that without parliament, it would be impossible for Ghana to practice democracy. No matter who you are, you would always be under a parliamentarian, he said. With all due respect, even our chiefs are under the authority of parliament. When the president and his vice are away, the next person comes from the august house and this should inform everyone to render the MPs with all the respect, he demanded.
