The newly-appointed Volta Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, in his first public appearance, impressed the people of the Volta Region during last Sunday�s Regional Prayer and Thanksgiving Service. The minister, popularly known as Lion, who was electrified by the presence of various choirs that had thronged the Golden Jubilee Park in Ho, promised each chorister GH�500 for delivering melodious songs. His gesture, which overwhelmed the people at the service, was greeted with applause, with many describing it as a sign of great things to come in future. Apparently, the Regional edition of the Prayer and Thanksgiving Service was not well publicized, which accounted for the poor attendance. The service, which was scheduled for 11:00, also delayed for an hour. That notwithstanding, the prayer and thanksgiving service would go down in history as the best in the region since its inception four years ago. The praises and worship session, which was led by Rev. James Noble Tulasi of the Jubilee Christian Centre, Ho, electrified the gathering. The former Deputy Minister, Henry Ametefe could be described as the best dancer of the day as he majestically displayed some breathtaking moves to the amazement of all. In the sermon on the theme of the occasion, �They that know their God shall be strong and will do exploits,� Rev. Joseph Mawufemor Dzandu of the Victory Bible College, urged Ghanaians not to put their hope and trust in President Mahama and government. According to him, �President Mahama is a human being like us and has weakness and limitations. As a result, over reliance on him and the government instead of God will be dangerous for the country. �Everything President, everything government, it is enough let us (nation) trust in God who created him (President) and we shall be strong and do exploits�do notable things. Do profitable things so that all opportunities will be well used for our benefit.� Rev. Dzandu also cautioned Ghanaians against incessant criticism, condemnation and comparison, saying �no nation can be Ghana and Ghana can never become like USA, Britain and the like� so stop comparing and start trusting God and Ghana will become great.� He added that �with God whatever the enemy has stolen from Ghana will be restored. All lost hope will be retained. This is our time we shall make Ghana great and generations unborn will come and sing our praise.� The Volta Regional Minister, who was flanked by his Deputy, Francis Ganyaglo and the Volta Member of the Council of State, Torgbui Binah Lawluvi, expressed gratitude to President John Mahama for continuing with the National Prayer and Thanksgiving initiated by former President Atta Mills. He urged the region to count its blessing �one by one� and rise above partisanship, insults and vilifications and unite. Mr. Afotey Agbo also called for continuous prayers against conflicts and underdevelopment in the region and the country. Also in attendance were traditional leaders in the Ho Municipality, the Clergy, Supreme Cannon Band of the 66 Artillery Regiment, the former Ho central MP, Captain George Nfojoh, the current MP, Benjamin Kpodo, Ho MCE, Isaac Kodobisah, one-time Deputy Minister, Col Cyril Necku, among others.
