A member of the NPP communication team, Asamoah Gyamfi has said that, the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan has no respect for Ghanaians upon using abusive words on Madina based Oman FM morning show host Fiifi Boafo. �The impression about Afari-Gyan is that, he does not respect Ghanaians. He has no respect because he lives under this illusion that, no one can direct and control him...� he stated. Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan is regarded from afar as a meek and mild person who would always maintain his cool in the face of any heated debate. But the EC Chair showed the other side of his personality to Ghanaians in general and host Fiifi Boafo when he sought a response from him regarding the issue of his location live on air. Before the real drama unfolded on the Madina-based Kennedy Agyapong owned radio station, Dr. Afari-Gyan had been telling the host in an even tone of voice that he was surprise some people want to make an issue of his absence from court since hearing of the election petition filed at the Supreme Court begun. Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan told the host that he has not made any attempt to fly out of the country as being speculated and can confidently tell Justice Dotse that he is still residing in Ghana. Unbeknownst to the EC Chair (so he claims), the interview was being aired live on-air but Dr. Afari-Gyan subsequently inquired from the host if he (Afari-Gyan) was on air. The host, Fiifi Boafo informed him �doc you are on air. Production has informed me we are interviewing you on air so you are on air and we are talking to you�. A clearly riled Dr. Afari-Gyan, who felt his privacy had been breached, then spewed forth a tirade of abuse at the host�"This is crazy, this is stupid and this is very unethical,� and abruptly ended the interview. Speaking on Adom FM, the NPP communication member noted that, the EC�s returning officer being the returning officer disrespected Ghanaians for not appearing in any of the court hearings so far. "He (Afari-Gyan) is the returning officer and in law, his signature was pended and not that of the EC representatives. "After superintending over an activity, he doesn�t even have the respect to go to the court. That is disdain and disrespect from the side of the EC. His behavior to the journalist is a show of disrespect,� he lamented.
