A claimant to the Kade Chief Stool, Nana Twum Debrah, who has been accused of stealing mining equipment of a company based in Pramkese near Kade will soon be put before court with his Italian partner Paolo Chiappini for the alleged crime. Nana Twum Debrah and his partner have been charged with stealing and theft. The two were arrested about two weeks ago following the disappearance of the equipment from the company site at Pramkese, but have since been granted bail after three days in police custody. Under the terms of the bail condition, the two suspects must report to the police weekly to assist in police investigations. Nana Twum Debrah last week told Daily Guide and the New Crusading Guide that the police have cleared him of any wrong doing. Nana Twum Debrah also accused certain police officers at the police headquarters and NDC MP for Akwatia Hon Baba Jamal for having a hand in his arrest. However, our source at the police headquarters point to the contrary. In one of his interviews, Nana Twum Debrah said the sale of the equipment was sanctioned by the company's board as part of steps aimed at defraying operational cost. But a company staff told this paper that the company has not sanctioned any sale of any equipment and described the claim as baseless. Further Investigations by this paper indicates that the company in a letter issued in March this year, directed that all activities at the site should be halted. The equipment were however stolen early this month and this cast doubts on claims by Twum Debrah that the company board directed the the sale of the said equipment during a meeting in January 23,2013. Whiles Nana Twum Debrah insists that the sale was sanctioned by the company to defray operational cost, monies from the transaction which was paid in cash is yet to be lodged in the company's account three weeks after they were sold. An excavator which was among the missing equipment has been found; but in a very bad state.
