NDC Communicator: "Petitioners Are Being Speculative With Their Claims..."

A member of the communication team for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Anim Piesie has vigorously stated that the NPP Petitioners are only being speculative with their claims because there is no evidence whatsoever in their claim. According to him the claims made by Dr. Bawumia is full of lies and the only thing which must be considered in their claim is the administrative lapses which did not have any impact on the total votes cast. Speaking on Okay FM, he said that Dr. Bawumias claim on over-voting is based on the number of ballot papers given to the voters which are indicated as C1 on the pink sheet; in that if there is a mistake on the C1 form when all other indications prove correct, Dr. Bawumia will conclude that there were over-voting. He again said that where gross over-voting could have occurred at the latter part on the pink sheet has been left out of Dr. Bawumias analysis because to him, the economic technocrat knows there is not mistake with the results accumulated for the various candidates. In view of these lapses which seem to be common with humanitarian duties, the lawyer for the first respondent, Tony Lithur suggested that what happened with the C1 on the pink sheet was due to administrative lapses; adding that these lapses did not undermine the results declared as the petitioners have raised before the Supreme Court. He further said that the real over-voting which to him, the petitioners should have talked about is when they can prove emphatically that some candidates accumulated more results than others, but in the case of the petitioners the results are correct except the mistake which occurred at C1 on the face of the pink sheet. He therefore said that there is no case for the petitioners as their polling agents signed the pink sheets at the various polling stations without formal complains that there were irregularities in some areas. He reiterated that the polling agents could have filled the complaint forms and refused to sign the pink sheets if indeed there were problems with the results; adding that the agents accepted the results because as witnesses for their political party, everything went well. He however said that NPP Petitioners are being speculative with their claims, full of lies just to deceive the public to mean that there were rigging in the 2012 elections; though there were administrative lapses which can be identified.
