We Lost The Election Due To Over-Complacency - Yaw Gyan

National Organiser of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan, has blamed the partys defeat in the just ended by-election in the Kumbungu constituency on over complacency. A by-election was held in the constituency following ECOWAS endorsement of NDC Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni as Secretary General of the Africa Carribean Pacific (ACP) group of states. After the election which was generally peaceful, Amadu Moses Yahaya of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) won beating off his competitors in the NDC and the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP). Speaking in an interview on Peace FMs Thursday evening news bulletin, Yaw Boateng Gyan said the NDC didnt win the seat because they thought they had already won. I think what caused our downfall was over complacency; we thought we had already won the seat; it belonged to us and so we didnt take certain issues serious. There was no hard work or effective campaigning. Secondly, there was some sort of division between some of the members of the party in the constituency he said. He indicated that the party has however learnt lessons from the defeat and will sit up the next time. The National Youth Organiser also congratulated Amadu Moses Yahaya for winning the seat, adding as a good loser, you have to congratulate your competitor
