Kumbungu MP-Elect Offers New Future For Constituents Akomfrah

The Convention Peoples Party (CPP) has said the people of Kumbungu want a new future and that they see the new future in the CPP Member of Parliament-elect, Mr Amadu Moses Yahaya. According to the CPP, the Kumbungu by-election signifies that the CPP flames are inextinguishable and an affirmation that the CPP still stands for national development aspirations. The Director of Communication of the CPP, Nii Armah Akonfrah, who was interacting with the Daily Graphic said Our nation dies without the socio-economic development philosophy of the CPP. On Tuesday, the CPP won a historic victory when its candidate, Mr Yahaya, in the Kunbumgu by-election won the seat. He polled 13,029 against Alhaji Imoro Yakubu Kakpagu of the NDC, who polled 11,896. The PPP candidate polled 228. According to Nii Akonfrah, the ballot was historic for many reasons, not because the CPP had not won a by-election during the fourth Republic but of more significance was the fact that the NDC had held the seat for a while. In his view, although the NPP were not competing on this occasion, the issues on the ground became apparent very quickly and the issues were also known to our candidate and have been for many years. Alhaji Imoro Yakubu Kakpagu had been a past MP for eight years and there was that feeling that he had not met the aspirations of the people out of the 116 villages/communities, about a dozen had electricity. The constituency lacks basic amenities and the youth are losing hope in the future. All MPs from Kumbungu in recent years had come from the town and many felt it was time for someone from any of the villages. Nii Akomfrah said Moses Yahaya offered that opportunity a hard-working man, good and selfless man from a village, who is development oriented, and known to the community for delivering on sanitation, schools, water, street lighting etc. All sides of the community across party lines campaigned for Moses Yahaya. He had support from national, regional and constituency executives, Brong Ahafo and Eastern regional executives, he declared.
