Gospel Music Legend Yaw Sarpong Finally Healed

What started as a solemn thanksgiving church service at the New Jerusalem Chapel in Kumasi for the miraculous healing of gospel musician, Yaw Sarpong of Asomafo Gospel Band fame, last Sunday, turned out to be an outstanding musical explosion by seasoned musicians from across the country. A signboard at the entrance of the chapel portraying the broad smile of Yaw Sarpong explained it all: Yaw Sarpong and Asomafo Nnase. Two weeks earlier, radio invitations had gone round the Kumasi Metropolis and its environs inviting the public, especially fans of gospel music to join Yaw Sarpong, his family, friends and sympathisers at the New Jerusalem chapel at Sokoban to thank God for miraculously healing Yaw Sarpong who for over a year, had been bed ridden by illness. The Presiding Bishop J.Y. Adu and members of the church received legendary musician Nana Kwame Ampadu as well as Mama Esther, Tagoe Sisters, Wofa Asomanin and his Ahensan Gospel Band, Professor Kofi Abraham, Nana Aboagye Dacosta and Thomas Frimpong, all well known musicians, some of whom performed soul inspiring music to the delight of the congregation. Telling his own story about his miraculous healing, Yaw Sarpong said he had been sick for over one year during which he could not walk and had to be carried by close family members anytime he wanted to move out. He said he was admitted at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. At that time, I could neither walk nor sit so I had to lie at my back all the time, he recalled. He said it was at a time when all hope had been lost that his friend, Wofa Asomanin recommended Bishop J.Y. Adu to him. And that was the starting point of his healing.
