Julius Debrah Advises Ghanaians To Report Bribey Cases To Appropriate Authorities

The Minister for Greater Accra Region, Julius Debrah has admonished Ghanaians to report cases of bribery to the appropriate authorities in order to swoop down on officials who authorize persons to set up buildings along waterways in the nation. Addressing the issue on Radio Gold, the Regional Minister urged the citizens not to condone corruptible acts by officials in the country. He was critical of the culture where administrators in various organizations and agencies accept bribes and allow people to raise structures along waterways. If you know of an official who is taking bribe to allow somebody to put up a structure in a waterway. If you let the Mayor know(s), action will taken or even if you let my office know the specifics, I will make sure that it is followed and that is done. He also called on the general public to report people who litter around to the sanitation authorities in the city. He said persons who violate the environmental sanitation rules will be prosecuted in the law court for justice to take its course. He also advised media houses to raise awareness on the right sanitary practices, so as to sensitize Ghanaians about the appropriate attitudes to adopt in keeping the city neat. He pushed for the media to continue running the sensitization and awareness creation programme on sanitation in the metropolis. This he believed would make residents responsible and tidy the surroundings. Though he called for education on sanitation to be intensified, he was however of the view that the education should be linked with communal activity for people to see that the practical effect of it. Its a way of even checking to see whether people are responding to the educational activity that you are undertaking. The objective of what we doing is that we as citizens and residents should also realize the onus of keeping an environment clean part of it lie on us. he added.
