The disappointing performance of Counsel Tsatsu Tsikata in his cross-examination of the petitioners� main witness, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the ongoing Supreme Court petition challenging the outcome of the December 7th Presidential elections and the criticisms it has attracted, has forced the NDC to come out and help salvage the image of their lead counsel by appealing to Ghanaians to have patience with the lawyer. Lawyer Kojogah Adawudu emphasized this point on Asempa Fm on Friday when he called on Ghanaians to have patience with the cross-examination style of the NDCs lead Counsel. Nana Ato Dadzie and Abraham Amaliba, both members of the NDC legal team, on Friday expressed similar sentiments on Radio XYZ. As court closed on Thursday, the usually lively General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu � Nketiah, who in the most worst of days, could still beam with excitement and churn out praises and gospels of achievement this time had to leave the Court with an unfriendly smile which obviously conveyed the disappointment within. General Mosquito, as he is affectionately called, did not even try to get the attention of the media as has become characteristic of him and walked immediately into his vehicle and same can be said of the other leading members of the NDC present. The disappointment on the faces of NDC stalwarts was obviously due to Counsel for the NDC, Tsatsu Tsikata�s cross-examination of petitioners� star witness Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, which after three days had failed to deliver the much needed humiliation of the petitioners� case as predicted by the NDC, and had become dull and so predictable with a set of �one-line� questions. But the disappointment on the faces of the NDC leaders was not as pronounced as that of the larger Ghanaian society who had been promised fireworks before the cross-examination of Counsel Tsatsu Tsikata started, but had for three days endured boring the most boring episodes of the court�s sessions since the substantive case began as a result of the disappointing cross � examination style. Many of such Ghanaians poured the various social media platforms and Ghanaian news websites their disappointment in the ongoing cross-examination of Tsatsu, with some noting that his cross examination style was an apparent attempt at unnecessarily delaying the case. Aside the set of one-liners, Tsatsu Tsikata had also attempted to make a meal out of issues the petitioners had abandoned and issues which had no bearing on the current case before the Court. This had incensed the Judges who quickly directed Counsel Tsatsu Tsikata to move away from those areas anytime he tried to bring them in. When it became obvious that aside those abandoned issues, Counsel Tsatsu Tsikata could only stick to his one-liners, the Judges had to come in again with Presiding Judge William Atuguba pointing out to him that his cross-examination had become repetitive. The nine justices further directed Tsatsu to ensure that he expedites his cross-examination. Prior to his cross � examination, a lot had been said by NDC commentators who described Counsel Tsatsu-Tsikata variously as the �legal Maradona� and the one who would sink the NPPs case. Counsel Tsatsu � Tsikata played a significant role in this hype as well, as he stated severally in court that he could not wait for the day he and the other lawyers would have the opportunity to cross � examine the witnesses to be called by the petitioners and prove to the whole world how deficient the case of the petitioners is.
