Dont Undermine Our Authority Supreme Court Judges

The Judges presiding over the hearing of the Election Petition case have expressed reservations about what they describe as unwarranted criticism of their work by some social commentators. This they said could have the tendency of undermining their authority as Judges. One of the Judges who made the call lamented saying, much as we are open to fair criticism, some of the criticism are going beyond bounds; to describe judges as timid is not healthy for the administration of justice. He explained that this case is the first of its kind in the history of the country and its bound to come up with difficulties, challenges and urged Ghanaians to be measured in whatever you say. After all, some of the criticisms are good for the development of the law. The President of the panel of Judges, Justice Atuguba on his part appealed to the lawyers to preserve the integrity of the process, go by the actual record of what takes place, apply for the certified true copy or something; make sure what you are saying took place. He also admonished Journalists who are covering the hearing of the case to seek clarification from the Lawyers and they will explain to you what it is that has happened. We want to be very liberal but you see, too much liberality spoils things, he noted.
