Kantamanto Traders Give Nana Oye Hostile Welcome

Affected traders of the recent Kantamanto market fire on Monday ignored the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Nana Oye Lithur when she took a tour of the burnt market. She was there to introduce certain interventions the affected traders could take advantage of. The traders refused to listen to her because according to them, government officials were being superficial about their problems. Nana Oye Lithur attempted to explain the situation to the traders saying we have heard all your concerns. We will be back with interventions. Right now, I plead with you to be tolerant with us and trust that we would do all we can. This market will be rebuilt for your sake, she told the traders. Several items running into millions of cedis were razed down after a fire outbreak at the Kantamanto market; one of Ghanas largest markets. According to eyewitnesses, the blaze started around 05:00 GMT on Sunday. Though it remains unclear what the cause of the fire was, eyewitnesses said the fire started around an area where eggs were sold. They also said the extent of the blaze is one of the worst they have seen.
