Gloria Akuffo: Tsatsu Was My Lecturer But He Is Not Showing Good Ethics In Court

A member of the legal team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who are challenging the results of the 2012 election in court, Gloria Akuffo has said she is surprised at manner Tsatsu Tsikata; counsel for the third respondent is conducting himself in court as an arrogant person. According to her, for so many years at the bar, she has never witnessed such a deviant behaviour from someone the NDC claims is a wizard in law. The profession allows when one lawyer is speaking and the other lawyer has something to say to the court, as soon as the other lawyer rises, the one who was previously on his feet assumes his seat so that the disclosure of whatever the intervening lawyer has is meant to the court and then the one previously on his feet will have the opportunity to respond. But the unfortunate happened. As soon as Mr. Addison (lawyer for the petitioners) got on his feet, Mr. Tsikata then says to him that will you shut up. In fact I have never in my so many years of practice come across such behaviour at the bar, she said. Tsatsu Tsikata, on Monday, May 6, 2013 asked the lead Counsel for the Petitioners in the case, Philip Addison to shut up when his learned friend on the opposite side interrupted his cross examination of the star witness Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Tsatsu Tsikata yelled at Mr. Addison in open Court saying Can you shut up? Speaking to GTV after Mondays court proceedings, Ms. Gloria Akuffo said that, Mr. Tsikata after campaigning for good ethics in court has looted the rules by his unfortunate comment. He (Tsatsu) is the person telling us to show good ethics in court. He was my lecturer and for someone like him to do that, I thought it was unfortunate, he said.
