The police have arrested and remanded Nicholas Kwame Adjei, a 34-year-old man and his accomplice, John Koomson who allegedly wanted to be rich overnight by trying to seize an articulated truck from a driver. According to Superintendent Aklogo Ayamga, Kwesimintsim District Police Commander, on April 26, 2013, at about 2030 hours, Nicholas and his accomplice John, a driver, resident at Anaji near Takoradi drove their Nissan pick-up car with registration number 4546-12 to Oando Fuel Filling Station at Apremdo and started firing gunshots indiscriminately. Nicholas who was armed and wearing military attire confronted Michael Opoku, a fuel attendant and asked the whereabouts of one Alhaji Issaka, but Michael replied he did not know where Alhaji Issaka was. The suspected armed robber, who later told the police he was a mechanical engineer by profession, pulled a pump action gun on Michael and ordered him to hand over all monies he had on him else he would gun him down. He then gave Michael a dirty slap and rushed to where one Abass Ahmed, a tanker driver was fuelling his vehicle and asked for the ignition keys to the vehicle and Abass, out of fear, did so. The police boss added that on April 27, John Koomson again drove Nicholas in their Nissan pick-up to the same fuel filling station at Apremdo and Nicholas enquired of the whereabouts of one Alhaji Issaka but Sumaila Issaka, a fuel attendant replied that that Alhaji Issaka was not around. Without any provocation, Nicholas slapped Sumaila and when he retaliated, Nicholas pulled out a taunus pistol and attempted to gun him down, but Sumaila Issaka boldly knocked Nicholas� hand and the pistol fell down. Sumaila Issaka then picked the pistol and rushed to the Kwesimintsim Police Station and made a report. Nicholas then rushed to the pick-up car to pick his pump action gun, but was prevented by witnesses at the fuel filling station. On seeing the police, Nicholas took to his heels but was pursued, arrested and sent to the police station. John Koomson, driver of the suspected robber, then sped off with his Nissan pick-up, but was also chased and arrested. When police conducted immediate search in the pick-up, one pump action gun loaded with 10 rounds of cartridge was found. A further search revealed 13 live cartridges, 10 live ammunition and 25 empty shells. The source told DAILY GUIDE that the two suspected armed robbers were in police custody and would be put before court after investigations had been concluded.
