We Struggle To Control Migration Of Our People - Chinese Gov't Laments

The Chinese government has admitted its failure to prevent its nationals from illegally traveling to Ghana. According to the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, the Chinese government was alarmed by the various reports of illegal mining activities being perpetrated by its nationals in Ghana. The government noted that some Chinese nationals had been designated to investigate the matter. Because of the reports emanating from Ghana and the media, the Chinese government directed its ambassador to engage with us; indeed the Chinese ambassador lamented its inability to prevent its people from entering into this country [Ghana]. According to the minister the Chinese themselves were unable to detect which visas were genuine and which were fake. It requires collaboration between Ghana and China working with our various embassies and foreign ministries and that is being done. Some Chinese nationals in the country are involved in illegal galamsey activities and whose activities have resulted in several clashes across the country and the destruction of various natural water bodies.
