GTV Spends Millions Telecasting Election Suit...Petition Is Based On Flimsy Non-existent Evidence

A Deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has described the election petition suit as a complete waste of time and resources and strongly believes the three petitioners namely; the 2012 Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo; his Running mate and Principal Witness, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the National Chairman, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, are only holding the nation to ransom on the basis of flimsy non-existent evidence.. According to him, the nation incurs cost as result of the live broadcast of petition aired by the State media. Speaking on Radio Gold's Alhaji and Alhaji programme, the Deputy Information Minister posited that the State Broadcaster has lost huge amount of monies in telecasting the proceedings live and this invariably affects the countrys resources. To him, the election petition is nothing but a waste of the nations resources. If you will consider the fact that the live broadcast is costing tens of millions of Ghana cedis to Ghana Television. It has created a situation where they have to shelve other programmes which are sponsored in order to bring these proceedings live to Ghanaians on a daily basis. The petitioners led by Nana Addo, he stated, are only holding the nation to ransom on the basis of flimsy non-existent evidence. He also picked on the members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for spewing lies about the President prior to the election dispute. He added that because the petitioners realized after piecing their evidence together that they had no legal backing for their claims begun to aggregate the pink sheets, knowing they could identify some inconsistencies and so, in order to sound intelligent they attempt to rewrite our electoral laws and introduce concepts with procedures that are completely alien to the system we have been practicing To him, what the petitioners should have rather done was simply what is required of any decent democratic political party. That is when you lose an election, you concede defeat graciously and wish the winner well and pledge your cooperation towards the development of the country. That is the least you can expect of any credible political party
