There is uneasy calm in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, following another shooting incident that claimed the death of the nephew of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Frederick Fredua (FF) Antoh. Prince Opoku Antoh, 30, was shot at the Dark City Pub, a popular drinking spot in Dichemso, a suburb in Kumasi by five men suspected to be armed robbers. According to him, the alleged robbers, said to be on a robbery spree, invaded the pub and demanded that all monies at the counter be handed over to them. "...the robbers allegedly ordered that Antoh hand over his iphone to them, an order he resisted...a scuffle then ensued and in the process, the victim was shot in the head at close range by one of the robbers," Sampson Nyamekye recounted quoting eye-witness reports. The incident comes barely a week after two people were gunned down in Ashtown, Kumasi in what is suspected to be a retaliatory attack. Meanwhile, Mr. Antoh has vowed to lead a massive demonstration against the police following the incident. A fuming F F Antoh vowed to lead a massive demonstration against what he claims to be the state of insecurity and called on the IGP to sit up and stem the tide of killings in the region. According to him, there is serious sense of insecurity in Kumasi. "I do not understand how within a period of three days, two people will be shot dead in broad light when the police Buffalo Unit, The Regional Police Command will be on duty and still be paid with the tax payers money," the NPP Chair said.
