Govt Urged To Publicise Findings Of SADA, Asongtaba Guinea Fowl Project

An anti-corruption group, Truth Transparency and Accountability Forum (TAF), has given government seven days to make public findings of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA)-Asongtaba joint guinea fowl and afforestation projects. TAF recently pressured government to look into allegations regarding the project, giving government two weeks to finish investigations. A statement issued by TAF on Monday said: We will leave no stone unturned to ensure that we get to the bottom of this matter in the interest of all. Below is the full, unedited statement: GOVERNTMNET MUST MAKE PUBLIC, THE FINDINGS OF SADA AND ASONGTABA JOINT PROJECT ON GUINEA FOWL AND AFFORESTATION WITHIN ONE WEEK OR FACE THE FULL RIGOUROUS OF THE LAW. With our quest to seek truth, transparency and accountability, TAF wish to remind government of his two week ultimatum given for investigations to be conducted into the joint venture project by SADA and Asongtaba with regards to the guinea fowls and the afforestation. This ultimatum has elapsed for days now and we are of the firm believe that whoever was tasked to do such job has completed. As a result of this, TAF wish to urge the government to make the findings public as a means transparency and accountability in this whole matter. We cannot continue to live in a Country where corruption is shielded and rot take center stage in every government project. Ghana as a Country has come of age for each and every citizen to demand from our public office holders, proper accountability since they are the custodians of our tax. We therefore cannot look unconcern for public funds to be misused. The Guinea Fowl and afforestation project should be a matter of interest to every citizen of this Country in order to get to the bottom of it. We will urge all Ghanaians to ensure that this is done properly, to safeguard our beloved Country from people who do not have the interest to serve but only to amass wealth for themselves to the detriment of the Nation. It would be recalled that Truth, Transparency and Accountability Forum (TAF) held a press conference with ultimatum to Government, SADA and Asongtaba to come out and explain to Ghanaians about the joint Guinea Fowl and Asongtaba project which is costing the Nation about 470 million Ghana Cedis. This received a quick response from the Government with a directive given from the Presidency for investigation to be conducted and report presented within two weeks. It is important to mention that our ultimate aim is not for reason of witch hunting businesses, neither is it for parochial political reason but to uncover charlatans who masquerade in a faade of business only to milk the public exchequer. We however wish to state once again that, we are given the government one week to make the findings public. Refusal on the part of the government to do so will force us to seek legal redress. Be it injunction on the said projects or otherwise. We will leave no stone unturned to ensure that we get to the bottom of this matter in the interest of all.
