Arsenal Fined GH8,000 For Crowd Troubles

The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association has found Berekum Arsenal guilty for crowd troubles during and after their Glo Premier League match against Hearts of Oak on March 19, 2013 in Berekum. Fans of the club rushed onto the field after Hearts had scored, holding up play for two minutes and after the game, the massed up in front of the referees dressing room and held them hostage for 20 minutes. The Berekum side after initially pleading not guilty to two counts of misconduct under GFA regulations 35(2) and (4), the Club changed their plea to guilty and asked for leniency. "From the evidence and the Club's own plea, the Committee finds Berekum Arsenal FC guilty as charged," a Disciplinary Committee ruling stated. "A fine of GH8,000 is therefore imposed on the Club for the unwholesome behaviour of its supporters as per GFA Regulation 39(7)(a)."
