A missionary and a word broadcaster at the Church of Christ, Brother Daniel Owusu Asiamah, has cautioned Ghanaians, particularly opinion leaders, against the attitude of hypocrisy in the on-going election petition at the Supreme Court.
He observed that the hypocrisy of opinion leaders, the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE,) members of the clergy and other statesmen has been their failure to explain to Ghanaians the need to accept the verdict in the election petition case before the Supreme Court.
He said care must be taken so that nobody destabilises the peace in the country, adding that opinion leaders must let their voices of peace be heard throughout the length and breadth of the country.
�If that is not consistently done, a fanatic of a political party who would not accept the verdict by the jury would cast the first stone and that might be the beginning of an unfortunate situation in the country, an incident we all want to avoid,� he advised.
He also intimated that cowardice and timidity on the part of opinion leaders and the mandatory institutions in the country to educate the public on the on-going election petition was very detrimental to the country.
The missionary further observed that leaving some unscrupulous persons to spin the proceedings in the Supreme Court hearing would be injurious to the state.
According to him, Christians and other religious sects in the country cannot worship their God in a violent country.
�We must all accept the verdict of the Supreme Court unconditionally and the truth must be told because knowing the truth shall set one free,� Brother Asiamah advised.
