Kotoko Title Defense In BIG Trouble

Kotokos title defense is in serious trouble following the decision of Berekum Arsenal to pull out of the Ghana Premier League. Arsenals decision to pull the plugs on their involvement in the Ghanaian top-flight could alter the standings on the table. Per the Ghana FA laws, all clubs which got points from their games with the Gunners will have all such points ducked. The situation means, Kotoko who recorded the double against the side this term will have six points deducted from their point build-up, which will effectively see them drop to third on the table with 40 points. Berekum Chelsea and Medeama stand the risk of losing points if the Ghana FA confirm the status of the Berekum-based side in the top-flight. But the Blues could be the biggest beneficiary as they will leapfrog Kotoko to assume top spot with 42 points after they managed four points against their cross-town rivals. Medeama will move up to second with the same number of points as Chelsea. Ebusua Dwarfs, Ashantigold and Aduana Stars all risk losing valuable points in the race for the Premier League crown. Hearts wont be spared the point deductions after they picked four points against Arsenal. If Arsenal go ahead with their threat to withdraw from the top-flight, it would have serious consequences on where the Premier League title could go this season. Arsenal have confirmed their decision to withdraw from the Ghana Premier League with just four games to end the season even though they are yet to officially notify the Ghanaian FA. Club owner Yakubu Moro claims his side has been treated unfairly after they were handed an GH8,000 fine for the crowd trouble that marred their Premier League game against Hearts at home.
