The Bimobas and the Konkombas in Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo in a dispute over a parcel of land at Kpemale, a farming community in the District have pledged to remain resolute for peace to prevail in the area. A communiqu signed by representatives of both parties in Tamale on Wednesday organized by the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) indicates that both parties deliberated on the need for a dialogue and set out all the necessary agreements for that purpose. The communiqu signed by Adam Imoro, East Mamprusi, District Chief Executive, and seven others indicated that they had mutually agreed to end violence immediately and ensure peace, saying, We will meet our people to prevail on them to stop the violence. It further stated that they had made appreciable progress, despite the recent violence and therefore renewed their collective commitments to search for sustainable and lasting peace among their people. We call on government and other well-meaning stakeholders to support us in this process including through the provision of enabling environment and needed funding, the statement said. The statement commended WANEP and other stakeholders for collaborating with them to ensure that sustainable peace was achieved in their communities and urged them not to relent in their efforts.
