2 Ex-Convicts Arrested For Attempting To Steal

Two ex-convicts who became friends whilst serving a jail term for stealing have been re-arrested by the police for attempting to steal from a building contractor at Ashongman Estates. Jude Dzedu Dodzi, 22, a mechanic, and Eric Tweneboah Kodua, 22, a graphic designer, allegedly broke into the room of their victim with a pinch bar, hammer and a screwdriver. Due to the vigilance of the victim, and with the help of some residents, the suspects were arrested and handed over to the Kwabenya Police. The Accra Deputy Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Timothy Yoosa Bonga, stated that Jude served six months in jail and was released in March 2012 while Eric served for one year and was released in March 2013. ACP Bonga said the suspects, who operated on a motorbike, on Monday, May 13, 2013 at about 2pm broke into the victims room in his absence. According to the police, the victim had gone out to buy something within the vicinity, only for him to come and meet Jude and Eric in his room. The victim quickly raised an alarm and got the suspects arrested, he said. ACP Bonga stated that when interrogated, Jude told the police that Eric, who lives at Medie, around Amasaman, invited him to his house to pay him a visit. Jude told the police that from Amasaman he returned to his house at Kwabenya with Eric. At Kwabenya, according to Jude, he was told by Eric to take advantage of the quietness of the vicinity to rob. ACP Bonga said the suspects would be processed for court after investigations. He said the motorbike has been impounded by the police.
