The Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea says the cross examination by Counsel for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Tsatsu Tsikata, would have been rendered ineffectual if the auditing of the pink sheets had been done early by the petitioners. Making his submissions on Peace FM�s morning show �Kokrokoo� on Wednesday, Nana Akomea indicated that due to the order by the Supreme Court judges for the petitioners to file an affidavit within five days prior to the hearing of the case, they hurriedly audited the pink sheets; a reason why some inconsistencies were identified in the pink sheets. The Supreme Court order for a head count of the number of exhibits of pink sheets, delivered by the petitioners to the registrar of the Supreme Court and served on the respondents in the case. Responding to the court order, Nana Akomea expressed that if the auditing �had gone on early, Tsatsu Tsikata�s cross examination would be unimportant�But better late than never.� He however stated that even if the ruling party presents over 7000 pink sheets to counter the claims by the petitioners, it won�t be enough to validate the votes cast for President Mahama in the 2012 elections since all that the NPP needs to overturn the results is additional 200,000 votes. He explained that �the numbers involved, a lot can change the elections�As far as we are concerned, John Mahama�s is 2.9 million that should be annulled; Nana Addo�s is 1.4 million that should be removed as a result of the irregularities and malpractices and illegalities. If you subtract the 1.4 from the 2.9, you have an excess of 1.5 million votes from John Mahama.� He therefore stated that it would have been �gross dereliction of leadership� if the NPP had sat idle �with the kind of evidence on the malpractices and illegalities� and that the party�s supporters would not have forgiven them.
