Kotoko Lose Top Spot

Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Aduana Stars scored, one goal apiece in their Glo Premier league encounter at the Sunyani Coronation Park yesterday as a result of which the Porcupine Warriors were dethroned from the top spot of the league table. Aduanas Godfred Saka, surprised Kotoko, who were playing away from their favourite Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi due to a temporary ban by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), with the first goal in the 12th minute, when he beat goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye with a grounder from a free kick. However, Kotoko striker, Kofi Nti Boakye, equalised for his side when he headed home from a similar free kick taken by winger Richard Mpong on the 31st minute to end the first half dominated by the visitors from Dormaa Ahenkro. Kotoko lifted their game in the second half, but their effort to snatch the maximum three points at stake were neutralised by the strong defence of Aduana, pivoted around Francis Larbi and Emmanuel Akuoko. Two brilliant saves by Aduanas keeper Stephen Adams in the dying minutes of the match also prevented the Porcupine Warriors from snatching a late winner.
