The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for a suspension of the counting and auditing of the pink sheets in the ongoing election petition case. According to them, last Thursday an inventory of the number of boxes containing the pink sheets which were in the custody of the registry of the Supreme was taken. However on Monday morning, representatives of the NDC and President John Mahama detected that the number of boxes have increased. The boxes that are to be counted now are the court�s copy that was lodged with the registrar of the court. Representatives for President John Mahama and the NDC who are the first and third respondents respectively in the matter have therefore called for a suspension of the exercise so as to enable the parties report to the court and seek direction. Confirming the call for the suspension, Mr Abraham Amaliba, a member of the NDC legal team who spoke to Accra based radio station, Asempa FM, said the inventory was taken last Thursday by representatives of all the parties and officials of the accounting firm, KPMG which has been selected by the court to undertake the exercise. "At the last adjourned date that was on Thursday, we took an inventory of the number of boxes containing the pink sheets that are to be audited by KPMG. Now today it turned out that our observers came out from the counting room to inform us that there were additional boxes that have been introduced with the existing boxes." �We are not pulling out of the counting but pleading that the counting be suspended so that we report to the court and the court can give us further direction�, he said.
